History of West Palm Beach

The City of West Palm Beach came about by Henry Flagler back in 1893 and the city was incorporated in 1894. Many of the streets are named after native plants such as Althea, Banyan, and Clematis to name a few. It is home to Florida's first junior college which opened in 1933 named Palm Beach Jr. College.
